1) Break students into groups and have them work on Farewell to Manzanar discussion questions packet.

2) Check for missing assignments from TAKS Glossy workbook: All the Years, Notes from a Novice, First Lady*, Palindromes, Ions, etc.

* Already on Gradespeed and counting as "missing" if this assignment has not been turned in.

REMINDER: Homework: Complete Manter Hall Lesson XVII (17). Write the definitions in the workbook along side the word. Write a sentence with each word, highlighting the word in the sentence. Due Thursday, January 26, 2012.

1) Students must make up work from Glossy TAKS workbook: "First Lady, All the Years..., Notes from a Novice, Palindromes, and Ions.

2) Complete Farewell to Manzanar Ch. 3-5, and check in class. Students reviewed their work and under honor code graded it, filling in any information lacking for each response.

3) If finished, work on homework assignment: Copy all * words from Farewell...Glossary, write definition, part of speech, skip a line, and write a sentence which shows its meaning. Due Thursday, January 26.

Check Lesson 16 (XVI) Manter Hall vocabulary word sentences using appositive/participial phrases. Students shared their sentences out loud, stating the word, definition, sentence and identification of phrase in the sentence. Peers reviewed with notes.
