1.  Night: Read silently and work on study guide at the same time.  Most students completed and went beyond Ch. 5.

2. Night Vocabulary List 10 was passed out to students.  If you were absent, pick up a handout.

Per. 5-6:

1.  Night:  Read with player Ch. 8, touching on E. Wiesel's powerful, mixed feelings of guilt and the tension between the need to survive and the obligation of loyalty toward his father.

2.  Returned Night SAR Chapters 1 and 2 for final draft writing.  Students will read comments and write their final drafts.  Bring tomorrow.

3.  Students turned in Night SAR Ch. 3.

4.  SAT Vocabulary List 16 was passed out today.  If you were absent, pick up a handout when you get back.

TURN IN VOCABULARY HOMEWORK LIST 8 SENTENCES.

1.  Night:  Complete SAR Ch. 1 and turn in.  (Per. 3 is behind; they just started Ch. 1SAR).

2.  Notes: Discuss definitions of compassion, empathy/empathetic, sympathy/sympathetic, intolerant, and abusive. 
3.  Discuss how Elie Wiesel makes use of the character/person Mrs. Schacter to show how certain negative situations can affect people's behaviors.

4.  Night:  Read Ch. 2 (Except Per. 3, which needed help with the SAR).

Periods 5-6

1.  Discuss same as #2.

2.  Ch. 2 - 3 quiz.
