Persuasive Essay Analysis: "Michael Jordan Soars Above the Rest" and "Homework Should Not Be Assigned"
Read two examples of persuasive essays, analyzing for thesis (explicit thesis/implicit thesis) topic sentences, transitions, absolute language, hook/grabber, specific details, H.E.L.P. and strong concluding statements.  Students annotated the handout and will keep until day of test.  Then they will turn it in for a grade.

and supporting reasons for position.
2.  "To Dream or Not to Dream?"  Persuasive prompt.  Passed out prep sheet (Brainstorming and Outline).  Complete rough draft for homework.

1.  Liberty Vs. National Security  peer revision.  Students who were prepared took home their peer revisions and final draft template.  Students who were NOT prepared sat and worked on their rough drafts.  Final drafts due TOMORROW.
