Read two examples of persuasive essays, analyzing for thesis (explicit thesis/implicit thesis) topic sentences, transitions, absolute language, hook/grabber, specific details, H.E.L.P. and strong concluding statements. Students annotated the handout and will keep until day of test. Then they will turn it in for a grade.

1. Night SAR 2 Analysis: Whole class analysis of Short Answer response formulating the different parts of the SAR, writing each of the sections after class brainstorming from the Analysis handout. Students filled in the 10-line box following the SAR checklist. Work was collected.
