Periods 1 - 3

1.  SSR and LOG

2.  Log check.  Most students are finishing LOG 4.  Logs 2 and 3 have been turned in for this six weeks' project grade.

3.  Of Mice and Men NOTES: 
Crooks
In chapter 4 we learn about Crooks, the stablebuck, more in depth. He is one of the lonely characters in the novel. We learn about his childhood and why he is bitter. Due to his race, Crooks lives in a room within the barn isolated from the other workers on the ranch. Due to his crippled, crooked back, he is more permanent than the other workers who migrate from ranch to ranch. Crooks has more material possessions than the other men as well.

Power struggle in chapter 4:
a. Crooks exerts power over Lennie
b. Lennie exerts power over Crooks
c. Curley's wife exerts power over Crooks, Candy, and Lennie
d. Candy exerts power over Curley's wife
e. Curley's wife exerts power over the three men.

4.  Begin reading OMM Chapter 4.
5.  HOMEWORK:  Study Of Mice and Men vocabulary words # 21-33: "scrappy - writhe."
