1. Grammar and mechanics: Sentence Structure: clauses and types of sentences. There are five handouts which you need to pick up if you were absent today.  Three on grammar and two on Modes of Persuasion (Logos, Pathos, Ethos) and Elaboration Strategies for Expository and Persuasive Writing. Please ask for them when you return Monday.

2. Distribution of the following persuasive prompt:

Think about the following statement:

A nuclear weapon is not only one of defense but of devastation and terror. North Korea has issued a threat of nuclear attack against the United States.

Write an essay stating whether the U.S. should respond with a nuclear strike against North Korea following its threat.
